Since 2010, UK registered charity Project Pencil Case (PPC) has been supporting the material needs of underprivileged Ethiopian students with pencil cases, uniforms and reusable period pad kits. These items are produced by our local Ethiopian social enterprise partner Arakele located in Addis Ababa. PPC raises funds for Arakele to provide scholarships and train women from vulnerable backgrounds to sew/design and connect graduates to sustainable employment opportunities.
PPC also supports under resourced schools with desks, chairs, blackboards and books. We work with local woredas (councils) to assist specific young people in local communities that need the most support.
Donations and Funds raised support these needs throughout the year and funds accumulated over time enables us to keep purchasing bulk fabric needed for ongoing production and supply of pencil cases and period pads. The need remains huge.
