Project Pencil Case was given the opportunity to transform a building in a deprived community in Addis Ababa into a library for youth in the local community. It served the needs of around 6 area elementary schools (grades one – eight) and provided a safe environment and facility for vulnerable students to partake in reading, academic and homework activities.
Lideta is part of the Mercato (Africas largest marketplace) and is densely populated with most of its residents living in extreme poverty. Project Pencil Case kickstarted fundraising by providing the Center with Tables and Chairs using local suppliers for all items to support the local economy.

High school students from a local international school created a Project Pencil Case weekly club and were involved in painting this walls for this new library!

Next came putting books on shelves and enjoying the books!
