Project Pencil Case started out with supplying students with basic pencil cases and uniforms and then expanded to supply schools with books and furnishings.
While the children were always thrilled to receive their own pencil case or uniform, it always bothered us when we noticed many children at schools wherever we donated pencil cases, slumped over their desks asleep …..because they were weak from hunger…. It was and remains very distressing to know that children are so hungry that they literally can not stay awake at school and consequently can not learn properly… Often one nutritious meal at school is the only real food they will receive all day…
PPC will be working with existing feeding programs to support the needs of Feeding Children.
These Addis Ababa school children (pictured) lunch program was made possible by the staff ensuring they had a good meal at school by pooling together funds to make this possible.
